There are three main quince varieties that are commonly grown in Turkey. These are Eşme, Limon and Ekmek. Eşme quince is indigenous to the Marmara Region. It is juicy and tart which qualifies it as one of the most grown varieties in the country. Ekmek quince is also demanded in the domestic market and grown extensively. Limon quince is a variety which has gained popularity in recent years. The sour taste has earned its name – Lemon. Eşme variety is the most demanded variety by export markets. It also has the longest shelf life.
